Tech.Databank

Pneumatic Sim Racing Technology

Traditional load cell pedals measure force through static compression of rubber. The Formula-R compresses air in a sealed cylinder — the same physical principle as a racing brake caliper. This is what it means in practice.

How It Works

Progressive Resistance

As you press the brake, air compression creates increasing resistance that mirrors hydraulic brake fluid behavior — the exact curve professional drivers feel in real Formula race cars.

Consistency Data

Zero Thermal Fade

Rubber elastomers soften and change behavior with temperature. The pneumatic system maintains identical characteristics at lap one and lap five hundred of an endurance session.

Reliability Data

Industrial Reliability

The R-Piston combines a stainless steel body with industrial NBR seals, rated for 3.5 million kilometers of operation — thousands of racing hours without performance degradation.

  1. GG

    Merci SRP 🙂

  2. B

The pedals are amazing. Build quality is supreme. I was coming from fanatic club sport V3s and I was immediately on pace and even faster with these pedals and I haven’t even fully dialed them in yet. Tons of adjustability is great, but even the default setup out of the box is very nice.

My only quibble is that, being in the US, they sent me an adapter for the haptic feedback amplifier that was a European plug so I had to buy an adapter off of amazon.

    Would absolutely recommend them!

  3. FL

Fantastic product, quality is visible everywhere and I have improved my lap time… Pneumatic is the best technology for the purpose of racing pedals…

Frequently Asked Questions

SRP® Formula-R FAQ

What makes the Formula-R different for open-wheel sim racing?

The Formula-R is a modular 2-pedal set (throttle + brake) with monocoque geometry — classic F1 or inverted configuration. The R-Piston V5 pneumatic brake reproduces the extreme stiffness and ultra-short travel of a real single-seater, with a digital-precision bite point for left-foot braking.

What is the difference between the Formula-R and the GT-R?

Both share the R-Piston V5 pneumatic core. The Formula-R (from 777,00 €) uses monocoque geometry for single-seater stiffness and ultra-short travel in a 2-pedal setup. The GT-R (from 805,35 €) is the multi-discipline flagship for GT3, Rally and Endurance, with an included travel regulator and 2 or 3-pedal configurations.

What materials and construction define the Formula-R?

100% AL6061 aluminum with 5-axis CNC machining, 28-micron hard anodized finish, SKF needle bearings, the R-Piston V5 pneumatic system (3.5M km rated), ceramic diaphragm transducers (SRP-T1/T3), polished SUS303 shafts and an in-house USB-C controller.

Is the Formula-R compatible with my cockpit?

It requires a rigid cockpit with a firm pedal mount — it is not recommended for wheel stands or floor mounting without a solid seat-to-pedal connection. It mounts on 80/20 aluminum profile rigs, major brands (Sim-Lab, Trak Racer, GT Omega, Advanced Sim Racing), custom frames and perforated pedal plates. Send a photo of your setup to [email protected] for a free compatibility assessment.

What software features are included?

MySETUP (free) includes PRO Mode with professional calibrations, Custom Mode with curve shaping to reduce lock-ups, unlimited pedal profiles, on-the-fly brake pressure adjustments via wheel buttons, and 65,536-step resolution for precise control.

Can I use the Formula-R on PlayStation or Xbox?

The Formula-R is natively compatible with PC via USB-C, where every MySETUP function is fully unlocked. For PlayStation and Xbox it works through the DriveHub adapter (sold separately by third parties).

How much maintenance do the Formula-R pedals need?

Practically none. The R-Piston combines a stainless steel body with industrial NBR seals rated for 3.5 million kilometers. No elastomers to replace, no oil to change — every unit is assembled and calibrated in-house in Barcelona.

Can I adjust the brake travel of the Formula-R?

Yes. The stroke adjusts from 15 mm (ultra-short, F1-style stiffness) to 45 mm (progressive, prototype-style) via a quick-release mechanism — redefining pedal attack geometry in seconds without losing sensor resolution.

What warranty covers the Formula-R?

3-year full warranty in Spain and 2 years internationally. If an issue arises, SRP ships replacement parts at no cost and covers outbound shipping. If a defective part must be returned, you have 15 days to send it by the most economical method.

What payment and financing options are available?

Financing is available through Klarna and PayPal (worldwide), Aplazame (Spain and Portugal) and SeQura (Spain, Portugal, Italy and France). The options available for your country are shown automatically at checkout.
